Consultant Sentenced 3 Years in Prison
Fraudulent claims bring 3-year jail sentence in Mercer County
A former Mercer County chiropractor was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court, Downtown, to three years in prison followed by three years of supervised release for his conviction on charges of health care fraud and mail fraud.
Brent J. Detelich, 39, who owned Detelich Chiropractic and Advanced Medical and Holistic of Hermitage, defrauded Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield by submitting claims from 1996 to 2000 for treatment not rendered.
Detelich, who lives in Florida, split some of the insurance payments with patients involved in the scheme, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Pittsburgh. U.S. District Judge Joy Flowers Conti ordered Detelich to pay $91,025 in restitution.
